A bitterly cold day and snow in many areas left the first of two days of practice at Hednesford a little quiet but that did not stop BriSCA F2 Silver Roof Gordon Moodie making the long trip down from Scotland!

Moodie was certainly flying in his new chassis. Other formulae represented included Legends, Rebels and V8 Stock Cars.

The session for clockwise formulae is tomorrow Sunday 29 February, start-time 1pm through til 5pm. This is usually a very busy session to which spectator entrance is free and usually a good opportunity to see loads of new racecars.

Pictures from both practice sessions will be available on Rolling Start in the coming days.

Its now a week since the page setting out the detailed plans of the Coventry redevelopment were posted on Rolling Start.

Although the web is still a bit slow - as we start the emerge from the close season - the feature has attracted a lot of interest. More than 1,000 visitors have looked at the feature and there have been over 12,000 pageviews of which over 500 have been downloads of the Master Plan itself. This is encouraging because it shows a high level of interest in the future of the stadium and the feature has been instrumental in helping disseminate accurate information as well as giving a very easy way for views to be expressed on the proposals, all of which will be passed on the Coventry management.

So if YOU have yet to look at the plans or have yet to comment what are you waiting for?!

A message on the Guestbook left a link to a Finnish racing website called Meisseli Motorsport

This not only covers Demolition Derby events but also a form of budget Rallycross. Anyway it is worth a visit and possibly is a destination for the intrepid traveller.

Hopefully you will have noticed several updates to the site over the past few days. First there are two galleries of pictures from South Africa taken by regular contributor Karsten Bielschmidt. These are based around the SA vs UK series for National Hot Rods. Today Kevin Wickham's first pictures of 2004 have been uploaded, from the rearranged ICEBREAKER at Kings Lynn.

Coming up this weekend I hope to include pictures from the LONDON OPEN for Bangers at Wimbledon and from now on there are events every week until things start to get underway in earnest during March.

One entirely new feature is the new 'TRAVEL BUDDIES' page. This was inspired by an advert from Chris Pye for the For Sale/Wanted page seeking company for a trip across to Belgium in June. Anyway the purpose of the page is straightforward, to try and put folk in contact so they may share travel to race meetings. This has got to make sense in helping cut travel costs but it also might enable fans to make new friends too by providing company to and from race meetings. Have a look and see what you think - and how about trying to fill those spare seats in your car or transporter?

Another tip from Chris Pye was to send a link of some previously unseen - on the web at least - 1980's video clips. These include one of his dad winning a race! The link is below and these are well worth a visit.

The March issue of Classic Car Mart includes an in-depth article into last year's Classic Banger Bash at Mildenhall. Spread over seven full pages there are lots of pictures and a refreshingly balanced feature on the pros and cons of Classic Banger racing. I'd rate this as the best and fairest coverage of Banger racing I have seen in the classic car press and is well worth checking out on your next trip to WHSmiths!

Quiet Isn't it?

Its one of the quietest times of the year so it was great to get some pictures from last Sunday's Hot Rod Open at Wimbledon from Dave Smith ... but things start to get going again for the Bangers from this weekend what with the rearranged ICEBREAKER at Kings Lynn (8 Feb) followed by the LONDON OPEN the weekend after next (15 Feb) and then HEARTBREAKER at NIR (22 Feb).

And now for something completely different ... Paul Gerrard spotted a younger me on this Alan Reynolds picture from Long Eaton, downloaded from RS some time back I guess. Thats me on the far right, at least in good company! If anyone has similar pics I'd love to see them!
